Formula D Round 6 at Texas Motor Speedway Video Round-Up

Posted by: on

So today is the pre-big day… yea, not sure where I was headed with that, but today is Qualifying for Formula D Round 6 in Texas at Texas Motor Speedway. New location, new track, new layout, new fun, new videos!
Drivers are reporting entry speeds in the high 90s to the low 100s. Early in the day the highest entry was 101mph by Robbie Nishida in his Achilles Radial 2jz powered Lexus SC300, and by last night we saw posts on Facebook saying that D-MAC, Darren McNamara, had an entry of 104mph in his Falken Tire v8 powered Nissan S14.
Another big thing that is causing a lot of commotion is the insane temperatures on the track. Outside temperatures were in the high 90s to low 100s. One driver, Mats Baribeau, reported that outside temp was 39c(102.2f), pavement temp was 58c(136.4f), and the floor temp under the pedals in his Gold In The Net Drift JZX90 was 80c(176f)! I can’t imagine how these drivers are feeling after a single day of practice at the track, let alone how they will be come Sunday when all is said in done. Some drivers were even posting pictures of there NOS tanks on ice in prep for tomorrow.
Anyway without further a due, here are some of the videos posted yesterday and circling the interwebs.

Miro Ovcharik Lands New Sponsor And Expands Into 2014

Posted by: on

The other day Miro Ovcharik took to Facebook to announce a new partnership with Standard Suspension. Standard Suspension will be sponsoring Miro for the remainder of this season and continue into the entire 2014 FD season equipping him with their R3 coilover system. This suspension setup is also currently in use by the 2012 DMCC champion Marc Landreville on his S14.

I met Miro briefly in Atlanta and Palm Beach this season and he definitely left an impression with his welcoming personality and his all out driving style. After looking into his program I gained a pretty high level of respect for him and hope this new partnership helps grow his program, take his career to the next level and finally break into the top 16.

Chris Jeanneret Turns A 180 For Formula D Rookie Debut At Round 5 Seattle

Posted by: on

If you remember an article I posted back in May, Chris Jeanneret with a heavy heart called his 2013 rookie Formula D season quits after a bunch of trouble with the car and getting his program going.
But it looks like after some footwork and behind the scenes magic he announced a few days ago that he would in fact be able to make his Formula D rookie year after joining forging a new partnership with long time drag racer Luc English and his English Racing team. English racing will be running the engine portion of Chris program and put in a new LS6 motor with some upgraded internals into the STR Wheels S14 which looks to be good for upwards of 500hp. So it looks like good news for Chris and we wish him good luck at Round 5 in Seattle.
