Save Danny George

Posted by: on

Last season Formula D awarded Danny George “The Spirit of Drift Award” recognizing his love of his fans and drifting community as a whole.

Now Danny George is turning to us, his fans, whom he loves so much. This year he didn’t get enough sponsors to make the season and is asking for help from all of us. He has set up a system of donations and rewards that feature everything from sticker packs to t-shirts to a raffle for an amazing grand prize. He has even set up the ultimate reward for a drift fan- he will put donors faces on his car’s new livery.

Posted by: on

Dean Kearney teased early on Facebook a picture of his previous Dodge Viper and shortly after Wrecked talked about Deans return with the Dodge Viper that he previously drove under the V-Led sponsor.

Kearney responded on Facebook and then on Wrecked’s comments confirming his return to Formula D in 2013 in the Dodge Viper with his own team. He said he will be ready for Round 1 in Long Beach, So Good Luck to Dean and glad to see you making a return after your poor luck in the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

Stale, But Still Kicking. Shift-Therapy’s Alive & Has a Look At Our Upcoming Driver Profiles!

Posted by: on

I know the site hasn’t been posting much in the last couple weeks, but to be honest anyone who follows drift news knows that this is a sort of tight lipped time when people are holding onto big sponsor news and car releases until the technical inspection and the opportunity for big press. Also in my defense this is at the moment mostly a one man show and I do have a full time job, go to school part time and do some free lance graphic design work here and there. Either way, no excuse, the site is still here and kicking and I haven’t forgotten about you. To wet your appetite here is something that I am working on and hope to bring to you in the upcoming weeks. Here is a preview of the Shift-Therapy.com Formula D drivers profiles.
driverProfilePreview
Now the information in this preview isn’t verified vs the data i’ve been collecting for this project, but again it’s just to wet your appetite. I am planning for the initial batch to be the Drift Alliance brothers (Tony Angelo, Chris Forsberg, Vaughn Gittin Jr, Justin Pawlak and Ryan Tuerck).

I have been collecting driver statistics for all drivers qualifying events back as far as 2007 and podiums as early as 2005 in addition to working some math some places to figure out average qualifying score, how many events they have qualified for since the rookie year and even what track they have performed best at. Upon launch the profiles will be limited to the profile page itself but I am hoping to grow each drivers profile to include a History/Time Line, List of Cars that they currently drive and/or own both in Formula D and personally as well as previous cars from past seasons. I will at least have photos but hope to also include as much technical info as possible.

These driver profiles are what inspired me to bring back Shift-Therapy as drifting/automotive blog to form a single place people can find out as much about the drivers as possible and keep up on general news so I am really looking forward to launching this project. Also as Shift-Therapy is a small site I don’t have access to the drivers or information as some much larger blogs do so it’s a lot slower for me to have to collect data manually throughout the internet and videos, blogs and driver sites, photos and etc, BUT don’t count us out as we have gotten a lot more than we anticipated and are hoping to bring you the best place for Formula D driver info short of the drivers mouth itself.

So stick around, we are just tightening the bolts before we start shaking this puppy lose.

Joon Maeng Shows Off 2013 Livery & Announces Nexen Tires as New Partner

Posted by: on

So Joon Maeng posted on his website yesterday showing off his new 2013 livery, the big news is that he announced he will be running on Nexen Tires and not Nitto like he has been in the previous season. Interesting news indeed. It’s good to see Joon got his car and sponsors together for the 2013 season after his trouble with Bergenholtz Racing in the 2012 season.

Club Loose 2013 Rules Released

Posted by: on

clubloose_head1
So the other day Club Loose released it’s 2013 rules (PDF below). In short the changes are very minor:
1) Under #1 of Driver Requirements they added that they recommend a SA2010 helmet, but still only require a minimum of SA2005.
2) Under #5 of Lighting and Electrical they added that if an OE key is not used on a car the kill switch not only needs to be accessible from the outside of the car like before, but it also needs to be clearly marked.
3) Under #1 of Body and Glass Club Loose is no longer fighting the battle against ugly drift cars.
4) At the bottom of the document, in the concluding paragraph, they have added that where there was previously no exceptions to any infractions resulting in not being able to participate the officials may now decide that if the infraction is minor and not a safety concern the driver can return to the pits to fix it and be reinspected.
Club Loose 2013 Rules PDF (Posted 2/26/13 – Please check www.clubloose.com for any updated rules)
So in conclusion very minor but important changes to the rules. We here at Shift-Therapy.com support Club Loose 120% for keeping drifting fun, off the streets and in a safe environment dedicated to reminding drivers what drifting is about. If you are in the area I highly suggest heading to one of the events, you can find out more about Club Loose at there site http://www.clubloose.com.
