Chris Jeanneret Flips His S14 During Practice At Formula D Irwindale

Posted by: on

Less than 5 minutes ago Chris Jeanneret flipped his car during practice at the House of Drift, Formula D Irwindale. Reports are that he walked away fine, but we aren’t too sure if the car will be back in shape for qualifying or if his weekend is over before it started.

Formula D Round 6 at Texas Motor Speedway Video Round-Up

Posted by: on

So today is the pre-big day… yea, not sure where I was headed with that, but today is Qualifying for Formula D Round 6 in Texas at Texas Motor Speedway. New location, new track, new layout, new fun, new videos!
Drivers are reporting entry speeds in the high 90s to the low 100s. Early in the day the highest entry was 101mph by Robbie Nishida in his Achilles Radial 2jz powered Lexus SC300, and by last night we saw posts on Facebook saying that D-MAC, Darren McNamara, had an entry of 104mph in his Falken Tire v8 powered Nissan S14.
Another big thing that is causing a lot of commotion is the insane temperatures on the track. Outside temperatures were in the high 90s to low 100s. One driver, Mats Baribeau, reported that outside temp was 39c(102.2f), pavement temp was 58c(136.4f), and the floor temp under the pedals in his Gold In The Net Drift JZX90 was 80c(176f)! I can’t imagine how these drivers are feeling after a single day of practice at the track, let alone how they will be come Sunday when all is said in done. Some drivers were even posting pictures of there NOS tanks on ice in prep for tomorrow.
Anyway without further a due, here are some of the videos posted yesterday and circling the interwebs.

More random assorted videos featuring Vaughn Gittin Jr, Matt Field, Tyler McQuarrie, Justin ‘JTP’ Pawlak, Matt Powers, Tony Angelo, Forrest Wang, Dai Yoshihara, and Corey Hosford. (videos via respective Instagrams & Facebook)

Preview Danny George’s Latest Sponsor, Maybe a Hint At The Future?

Posted by: on

So a little over a month ago Danny George took to facebook asking fans to mix and match a couple STR Racing rims in different colors and designs to his miata. He also mentions in another post about a possible signature wheel idea.
A little bit of time passes and on August 31st Danny posted on Facebook “Title Sponsor for 2014…. Check”. Later that same day me has another post talking about some wider Hankook 225s on 15″ tires and how they would fit nicely on those new 15×10 wheels they are working on.
Now today he posted this picture of his Miata being loaded for Formula D Round 6 in Texas.

Now there has been no official word as of yet, and this is complete speculation as of now, but I do remember when the design Danny George’s Livery contest was being held there was mention of keeping the hood open for any title sponsor that may want to jump on board.
Will 2+2=4? Only Time will tell, either way it’s great to see some sponsors finally jumping on to the Bearded Bandwagon and powering Danny George forward in his Drifting Career.
P.S. We over here at Shift-Therapy may have a little surprise for you Danny George fans in the upcoming months, If you follow Danny on Instagram (@whosdannygeorge) you may have seen a preview of it already, but if not stay tuned, it may help explain why the site’s been a little sparse on updates as of late.
